When Neenah Came Marching Home- Remembering the Sacrifice of Neenah's Civil War Heroes
The Neenah Historical Society decided to put together this Civil War exhibit to honor the soldiers from Neenah that fought in the war. The exhibit was shown on the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War. The exhibit opened May 3rd, and is open to the public every Sunday in May and June from 1 to 5 pm. Otherwise it is open by appointment by calling the Neenah Historical Society at 920-729-0244.
The Civil War exhibit features many different items from personal donors in Neenah. The exhibit started when the Neenah Historical Society received a collection of letters written by C. B. Clark to his mother during the war. The exhibit displays artifacts from the war and its soldiers and also the home front for the people left at home during the Civil War. They continued to look for many other artifacts to make the exhibit complete. Along with the letters, the exhibit features C. B. Clark's uniform from the end of the war, an American flag with 35 stars from 1863, a collection of materials from a pharmacy, a wheelchair a Civil War veteran used, and many more incredible treasures.
